Crime Seen/Transfer
βThe ongoing Transfer Project is a collaboration that includes artists and scholars: Janet Cook-Rutnik, William Stelzer, Edgar Endress, Lori Lee, as well as advisors Dr. Gilbert Sprauve and Karen Samuel. The Transfer Project collaboration has been ongoing for over 10 years, this edition will mark the 6th public art installation presented in the Virgin Islands that will include installation, photography, painting, and video, as well as panel discussions reflecting on post-emancipation issues and the period of the Transfer. The goal of the project is to provoke new dialog, reflection, and insight that will result in a strong sense of identity and cultural knowledge. Previous editions of the Transfer Project have focused on the early 20th Century, while this edition, Crime Seen/Transfer 2014, will also look at the 19th century through the prism of contemporary and conceptual art methods, which will utilize costume, archive images, and historical settings, to provoke interest in VI heritage.β
